Description
Mastopexy refers to the correction of the breast position and firmness without a reduction or increase in the breast size. This procedure is performed to correct varying degrees of sagging and softening, restoring youthful contour, even teen-age contour is possible.

Procedure
Mastopexy involves a rearrangement of the soft tissues, elevating the nipple and increasing firmness by tightening the skin covering. Incisions are basically the same as in the reduction mammoplasty, but are more limited in extent.

Under some circumstances, this procedure is combined with the use of a small implant to achieve fullness or firmness when simply readjusting the normal tissues will not be sufficient.

In selected cases of mild sagginess, an internal Mastopexy is possible, leaving virtually no visible scar after complete healing. However, the amount of lift is less.

Considerations
Risks of soft tissue loss are minimal since the volume of soft tissue displaced is less than in the reduction procedure. Some sag will recur with time, but never as bad as it was.
